Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) Program

Earn your CCCA designation!

Description

In partnership with Construction Specifications Canada - CSC Winnipeg Chapter, you have an opportunity to earn the Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) designation. This designation was developed to provide professional recognition to individuals who administer contracts on a construction project.

The CCCA program will give you a competitive edge and increase your credibility in the design and construction field. The CCCA designation attests to your knowledge of CSC's recommended practices in organizing, implementing and supervising construction contract documents during the bidding and construction phases of the project.

In addition to having at least five years of industry experience in the administration of construction contracts, applicants for the CCCA designation must complete two courses:

  1. Principles of Construction Documentation (PCD)
  2. Construction Contract Administration (CCA)

COURSE 1: Principles of Construction Documentation (PCD)

35 hours (5 days)

The Principles of Construction Documentation (PCD) will provide you the fundamentals of construction documentation. You will learn about specifications, drawings and schedules, products, bidding procedures and contracts. This course is designed for individuals involved in the construction industry who are required to produce, read, review and supply products for, or rely upon, the project manual/specifications. The focus is to emphasize the relationship that exists between specifications and drawings, and the role of the industry participants. In other words, it is designed for anyone in construction, whether you work as a designer, consultant, contractor or supplier.

Topics:

  • Construction process
  • Production of construction documents
  • Forms of contract
  • Codes and standards
  • Risk managements issues
  • Legal issues
  • Building science
  • Contract administration
  • Communications
  • Trends in the construction industry

COURSE 2:  Construction Contract Administration (CCA)

35 hours (5 days)

Contract administration involves making decisions and the timely flow of information to enable completion of the project as required by the contract documents including review and observation of the construction project. This is important to the Owner and Consultant to determine  the work is proceeding in conformity with the contract documents and because it allows a final opportunity to detect any inaccuracies, ambiguities or inconsistencies in the design.

The objective of this course is to improve construction contract administration by providing education related to the administration and enforcement of contract requirements during the construction phase of the project.

This advanced level course will take the individual beyond the concepts previously introduced in the PCD course. Although some of the same topics are included in this course, the depth of understanding and explanation exceed that of the PCD course.

Topics:

  • Construction Industry participants
  • Bidding Requirements and Process
  • Alternatives and Substitutions
  • Standards and Regulatory Influences
  • Site Activities
  • Execution of the Work
  • Certificate of Payment
  • Changes in the Work

  • Guaranties and Warranties
