Digital Delivery with BIM

Description

Building owners: Do you wish you had a data-rich 3D model at the end of construction instead of a stack of papers or a folder of PDFs?

Designers and builders: Are you prepared for an RFP that requires a BIM handover?

Everyone: Is your organization BIM-capable, or are you watching and waiting?

This session provides insight into each of these questions and helps you better understand how you and your organization can join the digital transformation of the Canadian Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Owners, and Operators (AECOO) industry. We will discuss Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its role in the building lifecycle, highlighting the benefits of BIM in each sector, and look at how BIM is enabling technological innovation in the area of smart buildings and digital twins.

Topics:

  • BIM basics and how various sectors use BIM to enable enhanced design and collaboration workflows
  • Benefits of owners and operators adopting BIM and digital delivery requirements
  • An overview of open BIM principles, the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) format, and their role as the future digital delivery standards
  • ISO 19650 and its role in structuring BIM delivery through a project delivery lifecycle
  • Insight into the state of BIM in Canada
