CCDC 5A + 5B Master Class Workshop

Managing Risk to Maximize Value

Description

This master class takes a practical, in-depth look at CCDC 5A and CCDC 5B and the decisions that can make or break a CM project. Drawing on the perspectives of three multi-disciplinary trainers (Project Owner, Consultant and Contractor), you’ll gain a clearer understanding of what Construction Management is intended to do, where projects commonly get off track and how to use the contract model more effectively.

You will examine the key differences between CCDC 5A (Construction Management Services) and CCDC 5B (Construction Management Services and Construction), with focused discussion on risk allocation, compensation, reimbursable costs, own forces, changes in the work, and the distinction between Cost of the Work and fees.

The course also explores practical ways to improve cost reliability, compare total RFP costs more effectively, and assess the pros and cons of converting a 5B contract to consolidated pricing. Whether you are advising an owner, acting as construction manager, or administering these contracts, you’ll walk away with a stronger understanding of how to manage risk and maximize value in a CM delivery model.
