Microsoft Project 365 Basics
Description
This course is intended for anyone who is new to Microsoft Project, self-taught, or has never used it before and would like to learn how to apply it as a practical tool to manage projects. Participants will gain the skills to create project plans, manage tasks and resources, and track progress effectively.

Getting Started: Creating a new project plan file and entering project information

Task Management: Organizing tasks and setting task relationships

Scheduling: Determining critical path, total float, and free float

Resource Management: Assigning and managing resources such as labour

Project Controls: Finalizing a project plan by setting a baseline

Tracking Progress: Using the Tracking Gantt chart
Note: Access to the Microsoft Project 365 app is required. Having two monitors or screens is recommended so you can follow along while practicing your new skills.

This course is ideal for anyone involved in planning and scheduling work, including project managers, project coordinators, construction managers, superintendents, foremen, and estimators. It is valuable for owners, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors across all segments of the construction industry.

Phil Perry, P.Eng. is an experienced senior project manager with more than 30 years in the construction industry. He has worked in a variety of roles with owners, designers and constructors, most of which included project managing industrial projects for general contractors. Phil has worked with many different delivery systems including stipulated price, cost plus, unit price, construction management and design-build. He has been teaching post-secondary construction management courses for the last eight years and works with various contractors on their professional development programs.
