Making People Management and Conflict Effortless
Construction supervisors and forepersons are the hub of every project and have touchpoints and demands from their own crew, suppliers, trades or general contractors, project managers and estimators, their boss and the owner of the project. Working with this range of people and meeting their needs can be challenging - but it can be done! This course will focus on building and managing relationships at all angles of the supervisor role, including when situations and people may be challenging and conflicts arise, such as dealing with poor performance, moving from a peer to a boss and applying a constructive approach to conflict management. You will also discuss performance improvement plans and using company policies as a resource.

Presenter
Jaime Mann, Econo Wall & Ceilings Ltd.
Jaime is the founder of The Amaryllis Project, a training, consulting and facilitation firm, specializing in leadership development, executive coaching and personal growth.
As a current partner in a commercial construction company, Jaime has hands-on experience and an in-depth understanding of the industry. She is currently the director of HR and manages all safety programming, and is especially interested in providing an engaging working environment where employees are appreciated and always encouraged to learn and grow.
Jaime graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Psychology Honours degree, and more recently has completed Certificates in both Applied Management and Human Resources Management. She is a certified coach (CPC), and is a practitioner of positive psychology through the Flourishing Center. Jaime is in the process of attaining her accreditation as a Skills for Success Workplace Practitioner©, as well as her Certified Relational Skills Trainer© through Workplace Education Manitoba.

- Jaime loves animals and is especially committed to winning over her bossy kitty, Missy Elliot.

With Building Supervisors for Tomorrow (BST), up-and-coming and mid-level supervisors gain the knowledge and confidence to move into management roles. BST puts an emphasis on practical knowledge, providing participants with the additional skills and resources needed to excel at new challenges on the job site.
Effective construction supervision requires a wide variety of skills, such as people skills (communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, coaching), technical skills (planning, meetings and delegation), and management skills (human resources and authentic leadership).
This comprehensive program provides it all, and is delivered in manageable segments by industry experts with extensive hands-on experience in construction’s ICI sector. Participants have the flexibility to attend modules in any order. Once participants have completed all 10 courses, including Leadership for Safety Excellence delivered by the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba, they will be awarded a Building Supervisors for Tomorrow (ICI) certificate.
