English Language Training for Construction

Mon & Wed for 2 hours for 10 weeks

Description

WCA is pleased to offer members the opportunity to take part in English Language Training for Construction course.  This 10-week program, taking place in-person at the WCA, is scheduled for two hours every Monday and Wednesday, starting on January 13, 2025.

Key Details:

  • Date:  Monday, January 13, 2025 to Wednesday, March 24, 2025  (Two hours every Monday and Wednesday)
  • Time: 3:00 to 5:00 pm
  • Location: WCA – 1447 Waverley Street 
  • Cost: There is NO charge for participants or your company. Considering there is no cost for this program, the expectation is that the participant would not incur any loss in income as a result of participation in the training.  This course is made possible with Provincial funding through the Manitoba Construction Sector Council and will be delivered by the Manitoba Institution of Trades and Technology. 
  • Attendance: A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants attending a minimum of 80% of the classes.

 

There is a limited number of seats which will be filled on a first come first served basis. This offer is for WCA Members only. Limit of four participants per company.

English Language Training for Construction is tailored specifically for the construction industry and is designed for individuals with minimal English proficiency who are currently employed by your company. If you have new Canadians working for your company who need to improve their language skills this is the course you’re looking for.

This course will equip supervisors and workers in Manitoba’s construction sector with essential English communication skills. By enhancing their ability to communicate effectively, we strive to create a safer and more efficient work environment for everyone on the job site. The course covers crucial topics such as construction vocabulary, safety protocols and understanding WHMIS symbols, ensuring that all participants can confidently navigate the language used in their daily work.
