Already have basic Microsoft Project skills? This course takes a deeper look at Microsoft Project 365 as a construction scheduling and project management tool.
In this live online course, you’ll work with project calendars, task relationships, lags, baselines, resources, resource leveling, project information and Gantt chart views. You’ll also explore how Microsoft Project can support cash flow projections, organize schedule data and help manage multiple projects through master programs and subprojects.
Topics:
- Modifying project calendars, including 6-day and 7-day weeks, statutory holidays and other project-specific requirements
- Modifying task relationships and lags for buffers and concurrent activity
- Setting and modifying project baselines
- Managing resources and exploring resource leveling options
- Generating cash flow projections that can be exported to Microsoft Excel
- Sorting, filtering and grouping project information
- Formatting project views and Gantt charts
- Setting up a master program with subprojects
Prerequisites - People enrolling in this course should have the following:
- A general understanding of project management concepts
- Basic skills with Microsoft Project
Intended Audience
Anyone whose work involves planning and scheduling the work: project managers, project coordinators, construction managers, superintendents, general foremen, foremen and estimators of all levels will benefit from the workshop. This course is for contractors and subcontractors in all segments of the construction industry.

Phil Perry, Perry Educational Services
Phil Perry, P.Eng. is an experienced senior project manager with more than 30 years in the construction industry. He has worked in a variety of roles with owners, designers and constructors, most of which included project managing industrial projects for general contractors. Phil has worked with many different delivery systems including stipulated price, cost plus, unit price, construction management and design-build. He has been teaching post-secondary construction management courses for the last eight years and works with various contractors on their professional development programs.
